Prince C64 Hi-Res

on: September 24, 2006, 05:47:11 pm

prince

i did it on paint and tried to follow the c64 restrictions, i made a 320x200 - 8x8 grid and used the 2 colour restriction on each
i don't know if it's accurate because i didn't do it on a real c64 program

13 colors

8bitty is right, hi-res mode has regular pixels.

Quite nice for a first try, and yes 2 colours per 8x8 and single pixels is proper hires, no widepixels here.

You seem to have fudged up your grid a bit and thus got some errors, nothing that is easily fixed.

Here is an edit where I marked all the faulty tiles, if you correct em I can check again :)

There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

I'll have to disagree on most of your points, Werewolf.  :lala:

-The background is fine, if you follow the mountain line you will see that it goes outside the frame well before it reaches the edge of the prince.  Perhaps it's unrealistic to have a city on the left and a mountain on the right, but it's not impossible.
-I agree that there could be more shading, however it does have some.
-His coloring choices are fine, except the sun.
-With the amount of circles and curves that the prince has, I don't think it would look as good in 2x1.
-Negative space ain't bad, and it's well used in this piece.
-There are a few imperfections in the lines.

Also, wtf? What does this have to do with that C64 banner you were making?  The only similarity I can see is the palette.

"elitist rampage" is a little much, I believe you're blowing it out of proportion quite a bit.  Fak simply stated his opinions, as you did yours.
