Just looking for general C&C on this little astronaut guy.

I want to animate him so his arms and legs move around.

I like it man, it's a good start for sure. It definitely needs a bit more fine tuning, though. He appears to be leaning up against a wall, and his helmet looks more like a hoodie that's engulfing the faceshield. His survival pack is quite smooth without any shading or detail, but I'm sure you're going to get around to that. Thanks for sharing!
One does not simply crit.

It lacks contrast pretty bad. Don't be afraid of making dark shadows on him.
Also, don't use background darker than outline. It makes outline look like banding.
Also, I'd move his leg on the right more to the right. That backpack looks pretty heavy and the figure seem to fall to the back a bit.

Thanks for the help!

Holidays kept me busy but I'm trying to spend more time pixeling now.

Here's an update with as many changes as I could remember to do -

I used a dark BG first time because the astronaut will be on a semi-dark background of space (and some nebula to brighten things up).

I'm working on animating him but it's early stages, if you see anything else that needs fixing let me know!

hey  !
Always cool to see astronaut stuff.
Here is a few advises :
- first of all I feel like the stance isn't great yet, remember that shoulder-hips barycentre should  be place between the legs and feel stable.
- his left shoulder feels too small, considering the suits he wear. He also have pretty short arms.
- As a matter of animation I strongly advise NOT to shade it yet. You've got to focus first on movement and tracking. Then add cast shadow, then render it to your taste and style. Adding tracking details may also help a tone (the orange part I've added). It also strengthen the design and add realistic furniture and materials. It also help adding strong contrast and shapes, which is always nice =)

Best of luck an the animation part.

wow thanks a ton Mr_HK_

with the tracking details, are those not only just for having a reference point when moving the parts, but also added detail to the suit itself?
is that what you mean by "furniture and materials"?

Thanks for the edit, i'll work on the anatomy some more, although I don't want *him* to be getting too big and bulky, there's supposed to be surprise metroid style twist if you get me :)

Thanks again for the advice about the stance and legs, I wanted the astronaut to feel like there is weight to that pack so i kept the lean slightly in, do you think the "looks heavy" takes away from the overall structure?
