I don't know, the old banner, although very good, was not visually exciting. This new one, isn't either, there is no life to it. Isn't pixel art about bringing life to something dead?

i agree. the way the pixels are diferently sized just doesnt look very good. and overall its just a bit boring.

maybe make it graffiti. and use some restriction like the c64 or some other well used one on this forum.

Ugh, ptoing is going to slap me, heh. He made some c64-ish grafitti banner at first and i talked him out of it, because it just looked childish as fuck imo. Well, i still stand by that, and am all against it. I find the current banner visiually quite appealing, good colors and nicely neutral, but i was involved in the making, so.

Haha, i like this banner as well, it's neutral, nothing to spazzy and fits in nicely. About the c64 thing, there will be a c64 skin and a set of c64 smilies soon.
And Bruce has fuck all to do with pixel art, hence he is gone. Way of the pixel fit's anyway, no matter what.

There's nothing I would change about the banner.  It's visually appealing, and the colors are nice.  It doesn't need to be bright and flashy, there's plenty of space for flashiness in the news box and in the forum itself.  Anything flashy added to the banner will just make it seem unprofessional and too specific.  Like ptoing said, Bruce Lee, while cool, has nothing to do with pixel art.

Wow, a c64 skin sounds neat as hell. Will it simply be a recoloring or an entirly different skin?

C64 is beautiful, so it should just be the default skin. On a side note, there are a lot of flaws in the design of the forum, although, I don't know what you guys did and what you didn't (most notably the buttons with the notch at the top-left.
