Venus

on: September 21, 2006, 02:12:22 am

well thusfar its still unfinished, it needs to be smoothed smoothed smoothed....i was just wondering what people thought.  Inspired by work ive been doing lately with black india, white gouche, and chalk

i dont know if this thing can really be critiqued here though, since at its core its not really pixelart as pixelart but abstracted impressions as pixelart

A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

No, you should keep the orange, although personally i'd have chosen something a little redder. This is really nice.. are you planning on keeping it like an impressionist painting or are you going to try and turn it into something more realistic? Well, just thought i'd say a few pointless things to show my interest in this.  ^-^

reminds me abit of some things I've seen over at CSDb lately, only it makes abit more sense, I can't really say i like it, it's a mess at anythign other than 1x view, and as you say, it needs smoothing, but I can see where you're going with it, or at least I think I can. I'd say the green is out of place if anything.

hmm....could you explain a bit more? is it a mess besides the smoothing that i was going to do already when i get more time to work on it?  since im the arist, the forms themselves remain crystal clear to me even at 800%, so its hard for me to know what's a mess without looking through someone else's eyes

Hm I have to say I like it and I am not sure bout the mess comment. Even if I zoom in so it fits the whole screen I still get what's what no problem. I guess that's a more individual perception kinda issue.  :-\
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

I just wish you hadn't put her in a box. Flowing into nothingness would have been neat looking.

That is an excellent idea David - if it just flowed out it would be way better.
Great pallette so far, maybe add some green in there  :-\

About the messy comment - I actually prefer this at 4/5x.
