c64 practice

on: September 21, 2006, 12:52:19 am

alt. pallete (more correct?)

both in multicolor mode, just practice, those are probalby the most fun restrictions I've ever used. The second is abit unfinished with the goblin and background,

There's no dark green in the C64 palette.

Using the pepto pallete, (entry no. 9) there is. It seems to vary from green to brown to red depending on which c64 pallete you use, then again so does just about every color. Brown in place of the dark green doesn't actually look bad at all. The first was pixeled in WDStudio, the second Project One if you're curious.

There's no dark green in my version pepto palette. :)

The proper C64 colours are these.

black
white
red
cyan
purple
green
blue
yellow
orange (This is actually brown but it's called orange, or so ptoing told me)
brown
light red
dark grey
grey
light green
light blue
light grey

Also I really like the second picture, the first one seems to be a bit messy though.

Yah only green and light green, and yes that colour is called orange !yus! No such thing as 3 greens.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Is the pallete I used, those were the default values in there.

The first picture is messy because it's just sketches/doodles done learning to work with the pallete/restrictions, the second one I actually had somewhat of an idea of what I wanted before I started on it0

In that screencap...why does that color not look like the rest?

And you know that guy has a massive head, right?

I don't like that there is blackness in his humongous gaping goblin jaw. First off, there really shouldn't be that much space in the first place, the cheek will have covered most of that, but I can appreciate a bit of abstract anatomy.

I don't understand why you could see to the other side however, which would get rid of the black. The only way that could happen is if one side lacked a cheek and the other had one? But that'd be pretty silly, and I doubt thats what you were going for. If so, it could be a lot more apparent.
How long can the floor creak before it loses its voice?

ptoing: I know you have a c64 page with the correct values somewhere on your webspace (which is an incomplete website? =p) any chance of me getting a link?

Godslayer: I see what you're saying, updated abit but not enough to look good.

Xion: It looks different because that's the selected color

I'm suprised no-one mentioned anything with the hat or the man's "scruff" yet, both are quite meh.
