Pteraman

on: September 20, 2006, 10:02:44 pm
Here we are, my first piece on the new board!

Uses a semi-logical palette based on green orange and blue colours evenly spaced across the spectrum (RGB values are all either 128 or 256, so there's a nice symmetry to it).  This took time and labour and love.

Critique is welcome.

To anyone who I know/remembers me, Hello!  I used to be Ironshins.

very nice for 4 colours, pixelwise i have no crits, but his anatomy is looking wonky in places, like the pecks and his feet (rather flat). The hrad is by far my fave part.
keep it up.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Wow, great anatomy. Love the idea of it, I agree some parts look a bit flat but no biggy :y:

He has no hips, the legs are connected to the ribs almost. Hips are supposed to be really pronounced in bipeds, since they're so vital

Jesus, that's amazing. I really love the sort of old school looking color pallates. Awesome.  :y:

His ptera-pectorals look as though they're stretched over his shoulders like a cape. Give them a bit more weight on their own.
How long can the floor creak before it loses its voice?

Sorry about the delay, I just got to updating this now which seems like a shame since it's a relatively minor edit:

Rather I think the problem was that they were in some weird middle ground.  I actually made them even less distinct since in general he has a very thin physique.  There's not much muscle there.

Made the hips more pronounced.  The hips are there in the original, just not very visible.

Haven't decided what to do about general flatness (if it's a problem).  Here's progress animation fun:
