Short Film Needs Pixel Artwork and Animation

on: January 08, 2016, 09:19:32 pm
Hi, my name is Ryq Peden. I am an artist from Bloomington, IN.

I am the Director of Miner's Pass, which is an animated short film.

The story falls within the mystery and horror genres. I like to describe it as Twin Peaks meets HP Lovecraft. Obviously I can't give away too much about the plot, however, I would like to provide some detail. The story will be told using game-like graphics. A walk around town looking like an NES RPG, a chase scene like a platformer, a car chase like a racing game, etc. If you've seen 8 Bit Cinema, you'll get the basic idea. There will be monsters and some gore, as well as spooky environments.

I would like to hire a team of artists and animators. I believe three would suffice (along with myself and my daughter):

1. Sprite Animator- we need different types of sprites, of the same characters, developed and animated. I have done some of this work myself, so some work will be done from scratch, and some will be animation of existing sprites.

2. Still Image Artist- for big scenes summed up in a single image. This will be the most detailed work.

3. Background, Tiles, and UI- I am hoping this can be accomplished with a single artist, however, I am asking for multiple styles referencing old NES games, so I have some concerns that a single artist might fail to nail multiple styles (but let's see). I am also open to using some pre-existing, Public Domain, artwork for tiles, or UI to help keep the project within budget. So, an artist that understands budgetary concerns and can help make decisions regarding this would be great.

PAYMENT!!!

$20/hr

I think it is best to split each job into its own task. E.g. if I need Sprite "A" animated, I'll ask you to quote that task (how many hours will it take you?). I'll pay you half of that amount to get started, then the other half upon delivery.

I feel that doing it this way allows me to properly budget for this project, make sure the artists are meeting deadlines, and have the most opportunities to check in on the work.

I have done a lot of online collaborations, so this job is open to anyone that can communicate efficiently from wherever they happen to be.

I need to see a portfolio with relevant examples. I would also ask that you send me a specific example that includes how many hours it took for you to complete it.

Thanks.

A lot of you post their whole CV and stuff.
We're glad to see an active community, but... this makes the posts overbloated, and hard to search for meaningful information, answers or questions that interest both posters and candidates.
And impose on each to lose time checking lots of "new" posts, where nothing of interest is added

I'm no admin, I've no right to order anyone here, but as this trend is getting annoying and makes the forum look like Freelancer.com (and its hordes of icandoitveryyes-people), please :
- reply to offers in private,
- only answer to posts if you have something constructive to add or questions,
- post your art in the appropriate place,
- all in all, show some manners.
