oh, i didnt know i was gonna be in the pic adarias!
i think that gabriel would definitely be my main choice. but if you want someone more human, the guy i did a portrait of( black hair, face in shadow) would be second.

I did this a little while ago - The Thinker by Rodin. Still a piece of art, just a sculptur.. but it smiles.

The point of a challenge should be to make something new, not post old art.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

very nice helm. :y:
she has a very pretty face..
as for critique, i'd just mention that your face is more elongated than the original.

OLD > NEW

Kon: I tried to address that, as well as the shadows below the eyes being too strong (as Ptoing told me in msn), both width and height of face rearranged slightly. The lips, just a tad... I think the likeness is better. I am very much in love with this image (not my own, the original) still I find, and looking at it for too many hours absorbs my strength and translates it into uneasy longing. Therefore I think I am done with it for now, barring major critiquage.

hmm....yeah, the brow portion has definately been pulled skywards, and the distance from eyebrow to hair/scarf shortened, which increases the elongated feeling.  it doesnt bother me though......i think what sticks out to me is the face that the nose seems slightly broken, facing more towards the viewer than the rest of the face, and to ammend that her right our left nostril could be pulled over i think, and the shadow above it extended in the same direction

also i notice you thinned her face, and its nice, but that (combined with the lips and eyelids) also makes it look too much like an previous aquaintence of mine for me to actually like looking at it all that much.. doesnt have anything to do with the artwork hough which looks great

portions struck out that no longer apply to the update, didnt see that before i posted
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

So just the nose crit still valid? The nosetril seems even more tilted in the original than in my version, I'm not sure what's there to fix. Edit, perhaps?

Try looking at the whole eyes - nose region, I find it to be pretty unaccurate. Combined with the wrong shape of jawline this kinda pulls her face into a weird shape

OLD->NEW

Look closely at my edit, I tweaked mainly the jawline and the entire right side of the face. Mainly the right eye is important in my edit.

Stuff like the left eye and the mouth changed a little
