You've shaded the bottom 2/3 of the head as if it's a cylinder, but the outline suggests a more complex form than that - you have a mismatch.

Nice colours.
too much dithering for this material imo.

thanks, guys. I haven't worked on it very much since I made this post but here's a small update

I'm taking eishiya's advice on the shading and trying to make the form on the bottom 2/3 of the head more cohesive. I also might tone down the dithering a little bit on some of the curved surfaces.

here's an update:

Looks nice but there are some issues.

1. I also think that the dithering is too much. I feel like the material should appear shiny and polished but it doesn't exactly come off that way right now.
2. Second, you have a LOT of banding throughout the piece. You need to work towards removing it because it is very detrimental to the end result.

Here's a tiny update. I'm in the process of fixing the banding issue, thanks for bringing that up. But I'm kind of at a loss when it comes to fixing the dithering. I want it to appear polished, but if I remove it completely it looks flat.

This example here doesn't look too pleasing to me. Should I just use more colors?

Another update.

This is taking a while. I wanted to wait for something substantial to show for an update, this should be the last one before the final draft.

I also made some platformer sprites, in the top right.
