[C+C] 2nd Tree attempt.

on: December 13, 2015, 11:32:21 pm
Long time lurker first time poster. I've been trying to pixel my little heart out after reading any and all theory threads I could get my hands on, determined to not have to ask for help.
Well that didn't work out so hot.
Here's my tree.

He's a bad misbehaving tree that refuses to cooperate with me any further. We got so mad at each other he got scribbled on a bit in anger, but it's okay. He doesn't really fit into anything, Mr. Tree was just a practice scrap that I decided to press.
Please feed me feedback!

What are your plans for the top?  Leaves?  Just branches?  What is the setting, just the tree or a background of some sort?
The base has a nice organic form, the top looks like you ran out of canvas.

There's probably a bit too much dark red in the bit of trunk where light is hitting so try more replacing with next lightest colour.
can probably use brighter colour in bright areas (imo fill most of those big clusters instead of adding some small patches).

the root third from right is bugging me looks like a fat tentacle.
try thinning it out and blend the left edge into next root a bit.

roots also look in general like a bigger tree.
somehow the higher part of trunk below branches doesn't justify the wide base to my eyes.
