*SCAMMER ALERT*

on: October 12, 2015, 04:03:08 am
So I wanted to make everyone aware of the user "Joshua". He has some impressive work in his resume so I decided to contact him for work on my game. He contacted me via Skype and sent me a very good mock up of the sprite character I wanted. I wanted to continue with him so we agreed on a price for the sprite sheets I needed, however he said that his bank account connected to his Paypal was overdrawn so wanted to be paid via Western Union. This was the first red-flag for me but he told me he was broke, provided me his facebook profile and said he needed groceries for his son, so I agreed to sending him an Egift card via Walmart for half of the amount. All was good, he worked on a couple of other poses (mockups) and so I paid him the rest of the money via Western Union.

Since then I've heard nothing, I haven't recieved one sprite sheet and I've contacted him both via email and Skype with no response. It has been over 2 weeks since contact so I googled his name and address and this showed up: http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/joshua-astorian/collinsville-illinois-/joshua-astorian-scammed-money-from-me-this-year-and-others-in-2009-for-artistic-word-that-961843#

Turns out I'm not the only person he has done this to. So now I'm out of the money I've sent him and a huge delay on my game.

Yea, not much we can do about it now. Always at least google the name of a business partner. In fact, the first result that shows up links to this forum:

Also quite a shame since he is quite talented at what he does. Hopefully he will come to his senses, but until then just be more cautious in the future.

Thank you for your reply. I added to the other thread you mentioned.
