GBC style artwork to an Shoot-em-UP game

Before anything thanks for take your time to read.Hi users!  ;D, recently i start to make an artwork for an shooter game that i am working with a friend, so i want  to make it look like an original GBC game, here are my first sprites,

Hey, looks like a fun project! I'd recommend pushing more of a shaded look to your aircraft. Maybe check out  Gradius or R-Type for examples of shaded ships. For your big bomber aircraft and smaller aircraft, I'd like to see more shades of color too. I think the GBC, like the NES, allows for sprites to be made up of 4 colors. Your small ships only have 2.

Your small ships only have 2.
I count 4 colors on every one of his ships except the pink one? I do agree he could better utilize those colors.

Does the black or the presumed alpha on the ships count as a color? My mistake. I don't really know how the limitations/color palettes of the GBC works. The blue ship for example, I see blue, light gray and dark gray. Does the black/alpha surrounding the ship count as a color? I guess naturally it would. Derp.

Anyway, check out this original gameboy game of a very pretty overhead shooter.

Maybe you could add details (metal plates, rivets, exhaust ports, etc), dithering, lighting, etc to your ships.

::) yes the black color is part of the ships too, btw i will try to add more detail , pretty grateful of both comments!.
