on: September 07, 2015, 05:48:47 pm
Would you like a super cool unique pixel portrait of yourself (or someone else) to use for your blog, website, or Facebook?? I will do it for just $1!!

first: Download my $0.99 cent iOS app 8-Bit Avatars - Avatar Creator
then: email me at: Ahale.email (at) gmail.c0m - include a decent photo, and I'll send you back a pixel portrait!

Please allow 24 hours for delivery of portrait!

I respect that you're doing portraits at such a small size.
But consider the target market and where you're advertising: are you going to sell $1 pixel portraits, to pixel artists?
Second, by requiring an iOS app you restrict your market to mobile apple users only.
Finally, downloading an app is an unfamiliar barrier, where people are even less likely to trust you than if you just set up some sort of paypal system.

I agree. It would be better if it was available to android, windows, linux or mac users, not only mobile apple.
Also, it's probably not worth 1$ to have pixel art. In windows, linux and mac, just open paint. For android, download this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.spc.app.pixelarteditor
Now you can make pixel art.

This thread confuses me. How can 1 euro for a sprite ever be expensive? I charge like $50 at a minimum for anything I do with pixels.

Are we talking a 16x16 concept level sprite like this? Or are we talking full blown 64x64 or 128x128 fully fleshed out final release sprites? $50 is a lot for a single sprite.

A 128x128 sprite will probably cost you over $150. 16x16 I might do for $30 if I'm desperate. Just discussing price will probably cost me about 30 minutes, so the starting price is $15, before I even touched a pixel. Prices do go down for a set, obviously, to about $30/hour probably. Mind you, these are basic competitive prices, I know people charging a fair bit more. Highest price I got was about $100/hour for a project that needed to be done very quickly.

You're telling me, you would charge $30 for one of these "portraits"? You must be a fairly experienced artist then. I would expect a quality much higher than what this OP has posted for $30.
