First character for retro platformer

on: August 14, 2015, 02:58:49 pm
Hey everybody, first post here hoping to get some criticism over my first work. Little background :
I'm working on pixel art for a platformer I am making with friends. I want the game to have a 'retro' feel kind of like SNES or something like that, so not many colors and every pixels count.
So here's the guy :

I think i'm satisfied about the colors but i'm skeptical about the posture. It's his 'idle' position by the way.
I also have a running animation with another version of the character with more 'shading' I guess. Very not satisfied with this one, I have trouble make it feel right.

If you have tips on how to improve it that would be awesome :)

way better than i could do, im terrible at sprites and animations.

i think his waist looks a little off.. the orange looks like his torso stretched to low.. maybe add a belt or something to make him look less stretched in the area?

Pretty obvious now that you point it out.. thanks
Quick edit :

It does look better but i feel like his torso is a little too straight ? Or am I just paranoid
