[C+C] [WIP]Cant figure out this guys legs/hips

on: July 15, 2015, 09:50:12 pm
Ive been trying and i really cant figure out this guys leg/hip armor.  He is supposed to be a dwarf (the reason for his stout proportions) but the armor just isnt working there.  I like the shins but the other part has got me super puzzled.  I tried a armor skirt but it looked to silly for me.  *ignore the girl btw*
I dont get it done, but when i do its not done.

many things look messed up here including the way he's holding the hammer looks like its the wrong way around.
I'd advise to simply use reference for the armour instead of making it up, then modify it for ur needs.

when u do designs like this its usually good to sketch out the figure underneath then build the armour over the top.
I use layers personally.
a little bit of extra time building a strong foundation always saves u lots of time and work later...

the most glaring thing to me is it looks like his knuckles are towards the viewer so he's kinda holding the hammer backwards. And no one stands with their feet like that o.o

I tried to fix it a little?

Left legs seems a little too out, and left arm seems a bit too long.
As for the armour, look up real medieval armour; you'll see that the part the covers the hip is also part of the torso armour itself.
A little edit regarding the figure itself:
There is light at the end of the tunnel.
