Hey, its Catzore again, I made a new sprite and I would like some opinions on it. ( Its looks awful at a distance so zoom it in )

As it stands, it has potential, could have cartoony appeal but this is a wonky sprite.

It has construction problems, I.E. lack of foreshortening
For this stage the Loomis books are good books about constructing figures.

Figure Drawing For All It's Worth
Fun With a Pencil

Sacred stuff for a lot of people starting out and easy to follow.

Cure's tutorial sums up the basics about colors, shading, banding, most of the other problems with this sprite.

Had a bit of spare time, so that having been said, here's that 75% done sprite edit/redo/thing.

Completely different art direction :yell:

No progress shots of this unfortunately, BUT hopefully this will be edited with a quick breakdown of some things that went into this.
It's not really as complex as it looks.
Just uses some extra principles that are vital to making a piece look awesome.

Also, looking at your sprite from a distance actually is a way to make sure it reads well.
Looking at something up close gets you get caught up in details.
If the big picture doesn't look good that's a major sign.

Hey pistachio! I really appreciate the fact that you took the time out of your day to fix my disaster of a sprite. As you may have noticed, I'm a beginner, in fact this is only the second sprite i have ever drawn, because of that i also wanna thank you for pointing me in the right direction with those two drawing books. I dont believe in perfect first tries, i hope i can learn from my mistakes and do better with the next sprite i draw.

I love that edit so much, pistachio.   :y:

Catzore, please give this sprite another go and post your results once you've had a look at those pdfs - very curious to how your work will improve.  :)
