Ugly watch!

on: August 24, 2006, 04:00:28 pm
Hey
I'm working on my pixelart but much pieces of art i make just looks extremely ugly and quite noob :o !
Of course i want to get better so i made an example of an simple, ugly, noobish watch.

I know it's quite wrong ;) But what's wrong with it?!

Looks fancy. I would work on the palette. Make it more contrasted. You don't need the dither. illuminate it.

Here's some "improved" watch. I think it's better than the other, don't know if everyone thinks the same ;)

But it isn't that good yet, isn't it?
So more suggestions are welcom ;)

The second one is much better, losing the dithering was a good choice, as was toning down the raised white areas on the band.  My major concern is that you're AAing it to the white background, typically I think its best not to AA to the bg, unless there IS an actual background.

Very good for someone just starting out, theres no pillow shading, but right now your colors are too saturated, the colors need some more contrast too.
I've taken the liberty of editing your watch:

-made the ambient lighting more noticeable and (for coolness sake) made it red
-thinned out the wrist band
-Desaturated the colors and played with the hues
-and some other little things

I hope you don't mind this edit.

It doesn't look like a watch, more like a test-tube like thing.
"Baboy" is Filipino for pig.

I think like a modern clock.. or something.
I think you should look at some watch straps to see the shape.
