[C+C] Head movement on run cycle

on: June 08, 2015, 09:35:55 am
Hey,

I'm trying to make this frantic little guy's head look better (but I'm constantly failing on it), can anybody help me please?  :)

(sorry for the gif speed, I didn't think about how it'll be in-game yet)

UPDATE: You can preview the animation here: http://4pixel.4pluz.com/

His head looks pretty awesome, I'd focus on his getting his body to look good relative to that.

Thanks Kellawgs!
It's just that something is bothering me about his head rotation and I don't know what, but something tell me that it can be much improved. It's not enough DiCaprio (and that's kinda the purpose). The tiny body is purposeful. c:

I think it could use some up and down motion.
Farthest down when the legs are farthest apart, and highest up when the legs are closest together.

The silhouette of the head doesn't change at all in the back, which is making the animation look weird. Like you just mapped a pixel art texture to a sphere, and rotated the sphere, instead of rotating something that's actually head-shaped, hahah.

I made a very small edit to your head movement. I felt that having one frame for his head turned all the way left looked a little robotic, with how quickly it snapped back.

Maybe it looks exactly the same... but the leftward swing of his face seems a bit more natural to me. It also makes his head movement turning not 100% synced with his legs/body, which feels more natural as well imo.

jams0988,
I tried to make some hair movement in the back before, unfortunately it didn't go so well. Maybe I'll give another shot later

castled,
Oh, I can tell the difference! :D Looking to the other version now it really seems robotic. Thank you mate!

what castled did helped but I think it needs more drama.
more ease in ease out with a faster turn.
