[C+C] Sunset - NES cutscene style

Just your average 80's protagonist staring stoically into the sunset next to his Ferrari Testarossa. And, sunsets are always fun. Tell me what you think! I've got a thick skin.

I like the colors and how the wind blows the palm trees. What I think could be improved is the character's silhouette, specifically the roundness on the left side,, from the neck down along his arm towas his hips; it looks almost like a circle. I probably depends on the type of jacket he is wearing, but I think a slimmer, more defined look would be cooler for this scene

Thanks, yeah it's supposed to be one of those baseball jackets. I'll look into it. Does it really look like a boat? haha I didn't think about that at all. I guess it would help if I showed how it connects to the ground, but that would mess with the composition... Grr.

I don't think it looks like a boat. Boats typically don't have straight windshields, do they? Their windshields are curved to follow the shape of the bow.

I don't think it looks like a boat either. It just doesn't make sense given that he's standing right next to it, plus its clearly inland from the palm trees.

I like it a lot, and the other portrait thread you posted too. Colors, composition, motif, all good shit. Lots of banding and staircasing going on tho. Is that deliberate?

Thanks man. Could you point out any specific areas that are bothering you in regards to banding and staircasing?

Okay, I see what you mean. Haven't done much pixel art the last 10 years so it must be my rust showing.
Is this better?
