Hey there!
I’m Mitch from Parrotfish Studios in Sydney, Australia.  We’re the small team behind “ParrotFish Sight Words” and the upcoming “ParrotFish Word Sounds”.  As you can probably tell from the titles, these are educational games aimed at 4 – 7 year olds.

However, this is not a job listing for an educational project.

We’ve been working on two other game projects and we’re now looking to build a small team of skilled, reliable and friendly pixel artists/animators.  We’re not ready to discuss the projects in public just yet, however we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have via e-mail.

That said, the games are both fast and frantic with arcade-style action and ludicrous storylines.  They are being developed primarily for mobile devices using Corona, but may be ported to other platforms in the future.

 Responsibilities would be as follows:

-   Create concept art for characters and environmental assets.
-   Create sprite, environmental and background assets using concept art and/or assets from prototyping as a style guide.
-   Animate sprite and environmental  assets.
-   Design and animate weapon and explosion effects.
-   Depending on time and budget constraints, storyboard and animate several short (<30 second) cutscenes.
-   Be available to discuss your work at mutually convenient times over Skype.
-   Be generally awesome.  We’re looking to form long-term relationships so we can give you more work on our future projects.

Please note that written and verbal communication skills are very, very important to us, and applicants must speak fluent English.  Applicants may be asked to attend an interview over Skype.

We are looking to pay between $10 - $20 per hour, based upon experience and skill.  This is of course negotiable. You will be paid regularly throughout the project, and not as a lump sum at the end.
The projects are running back-to-back, meaning that all resources will be focused on one project, and then on the second project.  Our goal for the first project is to be in private Alpha with most of the art assets completed by mid-July.

If you are interested and would like to find out more about the projects and positions we’re offering, please contact us at mitch@parrotfish.com.au with a link to your portfolio.

Cheers,
Mitch Horwood

Hello everyone,

we are no longer accepting new applicants for this position.  The response has been amazing and we've received a slew of excellent submissions.  Thank you!
