on: February 21, 2015, 07:40:59 pm

(Update) im searching a style similar to

Obviusly i accept every criticism i get, since well, that did make me make a wall that looked like an actuall wall XD

Right now before keep going im trying to search for a color for the city, because i want to make a city that looks a prosper city, but i don't want to just make the tipical rpg city. (and yes the black one is not for real, and the purple is the base color im using to draw [Tough they kind of look pretty cool...])

I like the top one. its a nice hue, but the most important is the level of contrast. you want your characters to stand out, so you are safer keeping from using really contrasting shades.
Still, I'm not use I'd use a bright shade in between the bricks, given that this is pseudo-medieval, so I'm thinking stone blocks piled onto eachother. Maybe a darker color than the bricks?

Yes, the blueish and the black are interesting colors, tough they don't work with the idea of the world, so i guess they will wait untill they are needed  :)

I followeed your advice and yeah, they look better now, i don't know why i make it diferent in the first place (because um dumb, DUH)

Whatever, now im trying to decide between using a dark one or a light one:

I was just thinking, do they look so much desertic? because that is not what i want.

bottom right colour is interesting.
but actually u might want to make 2 or 3 different colour sets for different buildings, this way things look less repetitive.
also consider adding some more interesting structurural shapes instead of all square boxes

yes bottom right is interesting, but it was not the kind of feeling i wanted on them. (Still im probably going to use it in a diferent way)

And yes i will make a diferent kind of color, but i will use one as the base.

And about structural interest, i will try but i want to get the square feeling to it, because i was searching a similar feeling Jerusalem had.

So yeah, thanks for all the advices.

Ok, yesterday touched a bit the 1 and the 3 and i made a kind of good looking one:

So i started to make some windows, and since i was unable to decide between arched ones and squared ones... Welp, lets do all.

And yes, i know pretty much the 70% of them will fall down in reallity, but im not sure of how to make it better in a 16x16 tile XD

if you notice the bulk of the building, the walls, you can see you've put a highlight on the left edge and on the front edge. but on the roof tiles you've put the highlight on the right. that might be a bit confusing
