Megaman

on: January 29, 2015, 02:15:44 am
Recently picked up pixel art again, but I'm already a little bit stuck.
I've got a sort-of complete feeling from this, but something is missing, and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Have you considered shading or detailing beyond (admittedly pretty clean) blocks of solid color?

After I get the shapes a bit more figured out, yes

Looks like you're working neither in painterly style or line-art.
Its easier to follow one method or the other.
If you choose line-art, draw 1 pixel black outlines, then add colour afterwards.

Prefer painterly style myself.
This means I don't worry too much about the perfect shapes so early on.
At this point I find defining a primary light source and adding just 1 or 2 shades useful for sculpting shapes that feel right.

Do you think you could give me an example or two of painterly, for a visual idea of what I should probably do next?
