Where to go from here?

on: January 02, 2015, 08:25:45 pm

Second Take: http://markus8585.dropmark.com/98082/3898938
Current: http://markus8585.dropmark.com/98082/3988380

Any ideas on where to go or what I should do to improve on what I have now? (Ignoring the UI portions at the top and bottom for now.)

Where do u want to go?
Why don't u provide some more information about ur game idea so we know what ur aiming for?
I can't see the very well on my phone screen but looks like way too much dithering going on.
Looks likeur using dithering as a kind of space filler because they don't know what else to do.
If that's the ccase is say stop dithering all together and learnt to texture with pixel clusters and light sources.

Make some obstacles like rock where your character has to jump over or that fall from the ceiling.
Also more vines in my opinion. Maybe some bats with a simple animation and a basic ai could make your game better, you could do the same for rats. For the rest you did not tell what type of game it would be but you could create some enemies because almost every game has some sort of enemy

Also background is a huge ambiguous mess right now.
Light and dark areas not clear what we're looking at.
No idea if it's a lava cave or what but consider changing background hues to blue.
Consider making the highlight on the platforms something like desaturated yellowy orange perhaps, just don't make it the same exact hue as the res of the shape.
Look up "hue shift" and apply this to ur ramps.
Replace all dithering with a few more colours.
