I should pixel more. WIPPISH

on: August 14, 2006, 06:06:23 am
I started colouring the lineart that I posted in the lineart thread,

but then I decided that I could do something better with the same pallette and some of the same image. So this is what I'm working on:

I've been working on it off and on for a while. I don't know when I'll stop. Maybe it'll become a whole scene of something.

CnC maaayyyyyhaps?

What a crying shame that no one has responded to this yet. I really have to say that I always like your stuff. You picks some wacky colors that usually seem to work quite nicely. I think the "hue shifting" (for lack of a better term) is a bit drastic in that it makes the flesh seem multi-colored rather than varying degrees of light. I'm really digging the star scarf/wings and the caved in chest, but overall it seems to lack definition. I'd also boot the black outlines.

I don't really have anything to say about the first one.

Hey, thanks David! Here's an update:

I got rid of the outline for the areas that the light is impacting and I messed with the hues on the wings.
I agree about the lack of definition and weird hue-shifting. I didn't really have much of a plan when I started working on this. :P
I'll see what I can do about all that later. Thanks!

This is the first time I've seen any of your pieces save for the avatar and KOS profile.  I gotta say, I love how crazy and random the subjects are and the colors go great with 'em as well.  I can't see any crits, honestly.  Looking good.

I would keep the outline, as it really suits the style you're using for the rest of the image. Perhaps use a selective outline of some kind, it's true that black is rather harsh.
I think the lighting problem is more that the pink is rather bright, somehow destroying the feel of depth in his body.

Crazy text, but beautifully brought to the world of art.

Thanks for the comments and all, guys.
I did some fiddling:

I decided to keep the outline like this 'cause I just really like the feel of it.
I added an intermediary between the green and pink. Does it help?
I did some other fiddlings too.
