Gitsumm Inc is looking for some feedback.

on: September 23, 2014, 04:33:27 pm
Hello,
We have been working long and hard on a number of small games.  One of which is a huge pixel project that will be revealed in a more public way later this week.  We are looking for some general feedback from anyone interested in taking the time to check out our website and/or play our games.
They are all Free-to-Play and work on just about every web-browser (mobile included).  If you happen to register and login our leaderboard can submit your personal score on our games and rate you against other players.

We do have one pixel-specific game created and more coming.  http://gitsumm.com/live/mobile/the-last-megalodon/ The Last Megalodon. aside from the menus and text all of the assets are pixel created.

This is genuinely a real request for feedback.  Good or bad, tell us what you think. We have used the forums here to hire artists in the past and although we haven't revealed much or been active as a community presence on the website here, we would like to make ourselves more known and begin to show what we have created and are continuing to work on.

If you are interested in checking us out. (Thank you) http://gitsumm.com
We also have a facebook page where we post ongoing updates, events, and activities.  You might check that out too.
https://www.facebook.com/GitsummInc

Again, thank you truly and gratefully for any time and consideration you give to us.  It is greatly appreciated and we look forward to hearing from you.

To be quite honest, your game doesn't have a bad little soundtrack for what it is.

The problem is (and is likely also the reason why you're not getting any replies) that you didn't ask what sort of feedback you wanted, or on what games.

That said, I'll just give a roundabout impression of the one I played (I'm warning you, I'll be brutally honest here, so don't read the next line if you don't want honest feedback!)

One thing that kills the game almost immediately is the pixel-art & digital-painting mix in the in-game sprites. The pixel size is huge on some of the sprites like the submarine, and ultra-tiny on everything else. It really looks cheap. Granted, you can't beat free, but at the same time, even free games have competition because there are so many of them.

If it looks like you grabbed sprites from the internet and threw them in a game, you probably did (at least in the player's mind), and they'll likely uninstall your game as quick as they look at it. If your revenue is advertisement, you wont get people playing long enough to see more than one ad imo, much less click on them.

That said, your game has a good pace to it, the music's nice (as mentioned before), but everything else looks so poor and low-quality that a potentially fun game is ruined. You need consistency in your art assets, otherwise you really won't get anywhere with this.

Hope that helps. If you need any art in the future, feel free to PM me. I don't mind giving you a hand. You sound like decent developers.
I'm offering free pixel-art mentorship for promising pixel artists. For details, click here.
