Hippopotomoose

on: August 30, 2005, 01:44:45 am
Flaber and I decided to do a collab. He did the lines, and I did the coloring.

It is supposed to be a hippo crossed with a moose.

I'm pretty happy with it, hopefully you can drop some critique on me.

The hippo part isn't implemented too well. But I see where you're going.
The legs, especially the toes, look deformed and distorted. Maybe you can work on that.
And just to save you the trouble:  :D

I know that you are going for a cartoonish style/look, and it's great - let me tell you. But still, I think that if you work on the legs to make them look more real it would show more as a Hippopotomoose.
Great job, great consept, great idea, great style!  8)

heh nice job on the colouring.
Im pretty pleased with how you coloured!

The transition between the 2 is better.

Fun collab. Was a challenge to come up with those lines. just that back leg bothers me.

good idea, very creative.  nice work from both of you.  expressive eyes and face.

maybe the top of the nose should be different color to front?  lighter?
have a look at the top of the back too, you have shaded it darker than the side of the belly.  Just makes the lighting direction look a bit strange.

With the legs that are behind, try making them a silhoette and shading them darker than front legs.

The belly curve at the back end of him seems to curl back towards head, is this too far?

Decent work on the horns. Bare hippo side is too green and saturated. Get a light source on the fur. AA and clean up the eye area. I think this could be twice as detailed/refined. The lineart is great, though...
