Noob - feedback wanted

on: December 06, 2014, 03:46:38 pm
Hey guys. I'll start with introducing myself: I am a 16-year-old programmer from germany and I want to learn how to do pixel art. I started last weekend by reading everything about pixel art I could find on the internet and watching as many sprites as I could. I created my first sprite ever:

Being happy with my result (which is btw heavily inspired by sprites the game starbound uses) I started to animate the whole thing and messed it up completely. It just looks like a pile of pixels not like a guy walking.

The animation does not look natural at all and I want you to tell me why.
Btw it'll be used in a game.

Welcome!  :D

I think you can get by with less frames.
Currently that and the positions the legs are going into is causing the noodle leg effect in the walk.

Also you have the arms sort of swaying back and forth, but the torso, head, and hips are  static.

I recommend studying how someone typically walks.
Hope that helps a little! Keep at it!
