female face - wip

on: July 25, 2006, 10:42:15 pm
I don't get many responses here usually but whatever, heres a new image.. please dont be too negative..

Made a bit more progress... tis now a sword (with only basic colouring atm)

Im going to try add a sprite of this character in the bottom right.. then add in a background.. detail the border.. finish the hair (as thats only roughly drawn out too..) and touch up anything that doesn't look right  8)

?? background ??

I'd like to see it without that signature stuff on it. Because from what I can see it looks prett good.

Her shoulder seems kind of odd, unfinished?

Do you have a copy without that stuff on it?
And I am finally seeing that you were the one worth eating.

It looks nice, really love the smooth dithering on the cheeks and the eyes are very 'challenging'.
A few points that can be improved:
1. Eyes don't look at the camera, destroys the 'challenging' way they look. Bummer!
2. The hair looks a bit dull, the shininess of that highlight comes out of nowhere (if you compare with the rest of the hair). Maybe you could make the second lightest shade brighter.
3. Seems like you forgot to do her sholder? It's still in line art.
4. Yes, somethings missing. Maybe you need to decorate the piece a bit. Flowers, candy, blood, whatever.

Holy crap, you're Terley?

I wondered how an artist so talented unexpectedly popped up on TIF.

That explains it.

i really like the colours in this, but with the latest update I see no reason to keep the bar running down the piece.

its a sword  :-\..

an unfinished sword..

forget about convincing me to get rid of it and spend hours constructing the rest of the face. I like it like that  >:(

aww - seeing the sword by itself and not seeing anything below confuses the piece. like the colors, but the sword just makes it weird. maybe if it were coming up at a lower angle, or if it wasn't the same width the whole way through - i don't know, i would probably get rid of it. it's not like it would take hours...hopefully   8)  besides, that's what art is all about! making it better!

I think the sword confused your bottom half too. it looks far too much to the left. expand it to the right more.

Maybe it's just me, but I think she looks somewhat like she has stubble.

Hmm, i was just about to say. I think you could break that up by making the shadow go along a bit more diagonally, then adding some light on the side of her face a bit more... not sure if that's physically correct, but you need to break up the stubblish look somehow.

It does look really great... lol, reminded me of Xena >.<

Like most however, i'm not keen on the sword. It would probably look better once coloured, but at the moment it just seems in the way and awkward.

Neway, keep it up.  :D

I noticed the same stubble thing as well. I think it's because it darkens so much down there by the jaw. I think if there's that much light hitting her forehead, there should be approximately the same amount hitting her jaw and mouth, the only thing casting much of a shadow would be the nose.
