YOu could try to take out some of the contrast in the trees (brighter green highlights could use some darkening9 and generally you could move the green more owards blue.

Also the contrest in the clouds seems to be quite high.
Maybe get riid of the dark 2 blues in them and keep them more white.

If trees and clouds look more like silhouettes they should detract a lot less from the awesome char animation.

yeah, the background art looks like art made for a game, not for an animation. it even has a visible palette! and it tiles, and is locked to a flat horizon.

Also the speedlines? on the ground dont work, it looks odd to jump to it from the detailed ground and back again, and when they're shown together in the side run, they're different colors, and the line at the top of the speedline ground is jarring.

check out https://www.reddit.com/r/BackgroundArt/top/?sort=top&t=all , there's some great examples of backgrounds made in a way that does not detract from a character moving in front of it.

My line quality got worse when trying a Micron.

Regular pen

Will probably give the Micron a second shot.

Never been a fan of the microns for sketches like that. Ever tried out the pilot hi tec c? Only downside is it's not waterproof, so I don't use it for finished work much.

@Cyangmou: I shifted the forest colors more towards blue as you suggested and redid the clouds, thanks for the crits  :y:
@Atnas: Thanks for the link to those backgrounds, it helped a lot when I was redoing the forest and clouds. I'll have to get to the ground crits tomorrow, thanks for your input.  :y:

Damn it, Ryu! You made me draw more just to answer the question.  ;) Nope, haven't tried it. Only got the microns because someone I know wasn't using them and gave them to me. Except for the black one, hence the purple.

More of the same imagination sketches.

Need to get back to doing studies, but when I'm home I'm working on a game.
