I got motivation to finish this up.

Update 2 still Wip. Somehow this piece turned to Pikmin... Was not my original intention. Yes that is Wip bulborb in background.

(scribbled with one of the default pencil brushes in Krita, no refs, does not look like anyone I know and still feels strangely familiar)

Starting to think in a background plus some edits.
Hope to don't give up on this :P

Do you guys only work in a piece untill finished or play around with others sometimes?

@beetleking: Outstanding atmosphere :)

Today:
[Architectural modelling - Blender]

Things I learnt while doing this:
* For a simple box volume (or something that has an equally obvious relation to bounding box, like cylinder, sphere, torus, cone), use the Dimensions section just under Scale, in the right panel (Object mode)

* Learn to set the origin (select a vertex, then 'Snap Cursor to Selected', exit edit mode, Ctrl+Shift+Alt+c, Origin to 3d Cursor). For example, placing the origin on the side of an object facing the wall means that when you scale it, it will grow 'away' from the wall rather than expanding through it.

* Use the heck out of x/y/z (axis locking keys during transforms), Ctrl (snap), Ctrl+Shift(Finer snap). And the Ruler/Protractor tool (in GreasePencil tab in left panel). Also GreasePencil (for things you have measurements for but don't want to put in yet)

* Edit the parameters of the last operation (eg. Translate, Extrude) in the bottom left panel. This means you can input exact measurements (extrude along an axis by whatever random amount, then edit in the amount you actually want) to get precisely the lengths you want. Another example is duplicating line(s)/vertex(es) and then adjusting the distances (to establish known locations of corners, without needing to work out all the inbetween topology to get there.

In the recent past:

If you insist on being pessimistic about your own abilities, consider also being pessimistic about the accuracy of that pessimistic judgement.
