I like that leg armour Cyangmou! Medieval Creya  :y:
it's more reminiscent of (late renaissance) representative armor - not intented to be actually used, but made just to looking at, nonetheless functional.

@arachne
stylish trees, like the second one most.

I worked a lot on the face, did some sketching and a final higher res lineart to get the proportions nailed down in an exact way to serve as a solid base.

hmm well I guess I am happy with that step, fixed all the bigger glaringly bad lineart issues with proportion and form by now I guess

Interesting how you're building it up in layers.. Are you using a light table by chance Cyangmou?

Something kinda old.. I was going to use it for a border for a couple character designs but scrapped it due to it looking too traditional while the characters were much more digital looking. Plus I thought the design was weak overall.. The only thing I do like is the pillar and bust:

That's quite a weird effect. I can see you used EGA palette, but for some reason.. When I look at it, it feels like it's a mix of square pixels (pink bars and girders, crates, grass), wide pixels (brown ladders/grey chunks/), and tall pixels (the blue wavy tube? things and the red ladders). Really difficult to describe.
This is not a criticism exactly, it just seems to surprise the part of my brain that tries to predict what I'll see next.

Is the purple supposed to be plastic? The only other thing that came to mind was candy.
If you insist on being pessimistic about your own abilities, consider also being pessimistic about the accuracy of that pessimistic judgement.

thin paper, a light table would only be necessary if I actually would go to make a finished pencil artwork on a thicker more expensive paper.

continued, don't consider it as a sketch anymore.

I see.. Man, She's pretty stylish!
I have a light table from my trade school days. But I barely use it anymore.. only once in a blue moon.

Surt: Impressive how you perpetually crank out 8-bit mock ups!
