I really liked the hangout yesterday too. Here's a new one that will be running for 6 years, use this link from now on. It's stickied in General as well. We should get a banner made with a link to the hangout and put it at the top of the forum too.

didnt save anything i sketched yesterday cus my mind was on puppet animation, but I want to say everyone's work here is inspiring. I'll be drawing and animating most of today so I hope people join so I can look at other people working to keep me motivated again!

Mathias: Your control and cartoony line quality has gotten LEAGUES better, I love the top left character. Everything is so very polished now, I can't wait to see what your art looks like in a week even.

Indigo: I want to meet the old man that lives there.

Photocopier: I want to see more in that style, it's a nice mix of line and paint. Find some reference for the hand holding the tablet, knuckles aren't straight like that. The hand holding the pen is much better.

actually constructing them from the bottom, final ones with muscles still referenced for practice-purposes.
Seems that I have to revisit my Deltoid knowledge, since it makes huge problems drawing it right.

"Because the beauty of the human body is that it hasn't a single muscle which doesn't serve its purpose; that there's not a line wasted; that every detail of it fits one idea, the idea of a man and the life of a man."

Thank you, Atnas. Improvement is the plan.
The best artists are the hardest workers. I believe that anybody can do what we're doing in this thread if they want it badly enough.

Going to start some studies of other cartoons. +3 if you recognize the drill sergeant.

ribcages, before adding shoulders + deltoid
Bammes' Method for sketching it out felt a bit odd, though his other diagrams were great.
Top one at the left is sketched with a point method from the diagrams.

"Because the beauty of the human body is that it hasn't a single muscle which doesn't serve its purpose; that there's not a line wasted; that every detail of it fits one idea, the idea of a man and the life of a man."

Today I've drawn characters based off of (starbound) sprites.

They're a bit boringly posed since the focus is more on reinterpreting the pixels into a larger image.

Didn't really do much drawing today, was animating in class instead.

I did doodle this thing:

Hur hur, actually the omanyte was a joke request by someone, I decided to try to reinterpret it a bit to retain interest in working on it, rather than drawing what I "know".

(Also Photocopier, that shading on the cup is very nice.)

I recognize that drill sergeant from R __ & S______; a great show.

Just some legs (and lighting practice):

Let's see if I finish this some day...

I had an interesting idea in my head, and got started with it. For a while, I thought of drawing an American home, but not only that, but I had an additional idea to spice that up with hints of "Land of the Free" and "the American dream". Outdoor barbeque ovens for special family occasions, white picket fences, a swinging hammock, a trampoline, an old crickety treehouse built on an apple tree... All on a secluded floating island connected with the outside world only through radio and TV signals.

I'd post a new thread on this but I wanna get done with the idea before then..., then maybe polish this up beautifully.
