Cyangmou, you inspired me to buy some pencils and get to it (30 bucks CAN, owch).

...

Now I just have to get to it.

I really like that last face, beautiful stuff. I wish your stuff wasn't hosted on deviantart. The way they rape you raw with ads is big hurdle to overcome. But for your pencilwork I'll take it like a man.

EDIT: Gah, a red herring! Couldn't find any more pencil sketches!  :'(

I recommend col-erase for the under sketch. ------> can also be used for the over sketch.
Non-Photo Blue is really nice and plasticy, doesn't smudge, and works really well with a light table if you have one -----> but isn't necessary.
It's what most paper animators use, but it's also good for just plain sketching.
Easy to draw over, visually recedes, adds a bit of character to the drawing, and if you really care can easily be removed ---> hence the Non-Photo.

Here's a place to get them.
http://www.dickblick.com/products/prismacolor-col-erase-pencils/
Look around for other places to buy, better prices than the one I linked probly exist.
I think I payed around 20-40 cents a pencil but can't remember where.
Gray is also good, can be light or dark depending on how much you apply, mostly smudge free -----> a lot less than graphite.

The erasers on the back of the pencil are not great.
Get a hand ersaser.
Here's a few I like.
Magic Rub
Sakura SJ-100
Tri Tip

Some old examples.
NP-Blue undersketches: 1 2 3
Gray and Various col-erase colors: 1 2 3 4

If you're just starting out no need to go crazy.
I'd say get like 3-5 NP-Blue and 3-5 gray to see if you like them.
From there try a few other colors.
Be warned, the other colors vary in consistency a lot.
The NP-Blue/Pink are very hard like plastic and don't smear.
Scarlet Red is moderately hard and smears a bit.
Indigo Blue/Brown/Terra Cotta are soft and smear a lot.

after all, all you need is a pencil and an eraser Zizka

I am doing stuff like that everyday, usually I am just not uploading it, for the sketchy stuff, mainly because I don't think it's really interesting to look at. After all for this the interesting thing for me is the process and the understanding of a subject, not the outcome. To post it in a sketchbook thread is fine though.

Was drawing some stuff from Peter Paul Rubens today.

It wasn't much of a new year resolution, but I decided I'd do more art from now on.
(the fact is, I wanted to make a 2013 summary of art meme, and realized I had 5 whole months where I had absolutely nothing to show)

So, since I'm trying to do something daily, either a game asset, a drawing or some pixel doodle... This looks like a good place to show some of it, I guess? So here goes nothing:

Was just doodling rather mindlessly
(yes I know it's 4 days old, but I left my usb stick at home so I don't have my other art files with me.  :-X)

welcome Ellian, really nice colors there.
The thread was quite quiet anyways - where did all the people go?

@Cyangmou: They feel intimated to post after your drawings!  :D

It's the monkey from Gorillaz. Drawn from reference.

Yo!
This thread is for posting whatever you worked on today.
It doesn't have to be finished.
It doesn't have to be good.
Just take some time and draw something!

If you say you drew it, just post it
Cars are damned hard to draw, but if you know that it sucked and where it sucked, sketch the next one and try to make it suck a little bit less.
If nobody posts, it feels also odd to post things.
In the end you will always have the feel that something sucks, question is just on what level it sucks. My stuff is also off in a lot of spots.

A work in progress of some schoolwork.

I guess for me the reason I wasn't very interested in posting was because it didn't get any sort of reaction. I don't demand people to comment but usually I don't feel very motivated to take the trouble of sharing something in a given place if nothing seems to happen.

This sounds like I'm whining for people to comment on the stuff I do but please do not take it as such. I'm just explaining my reasons for not posting very much.

(also of course I have some fallow days when I just waste the entire day because of some stupid little inconvenience.)
