First attempt with C64 limits

on: July 26, 2006, 01:02:22 am
Well after reading lots of stuff by ptoing in the other section i decided to try something with C64 limitations.  I speant a few hours looking at a lot of helm's and ptoing's  :P works.

Well here it is -

I've still got to finish the sky - critiques and comments/suggestions are always appreciated.
It should be exact with the limits - but if someone with more knowledge/experience spots any mistakes or has any tips they would be most helpful.

This is really great. Especially since it's your first one.

My only crit is to have stronger light reflections in the water.
And I am finally seeing that you were the one worth eating.

Thanks.  I'll try and increase those water highlights later - its hard due to having 3 colors per 8x8 box and i didnt want to crowd it, but i'll play with it later.

4 colours. 1 global background colour which you can choose and 3 on top of that per 8x8. Use the bgcolour wisely. Looking good so far for a fist attempt.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Yeah - black is my global color, and i dont wanna use it in the sea, so it limits it to 3.

black is not necessarily a good bgcolour, in most cases 1 of the greys is way more effective.

I chose black because the palms silhouettes were going to span most of the height and therefore come into contact with a lot of colors.  I thought it would make it easier.  Plus any details i add - boat/birds were going to be black and would give me an easier job placing them.

Thanks for the tip though - will bare it in mind for future works.
