[WIP] Shadow of a Hunter

on: January 10, 2014, 07:40:48 am

Overall I'm happy with the design and shape of it so far. Next thing is probably the green wing parts.

Still a bit of a beginner on pieces as small as this so any kind of help or advice is always encouraged.

I'll be posting any updates regardless.

Looks like Samus.

Other than that . . . I don't know your intent is so I can't really comment. Go on.

I did feel like I shared this a little too early for the progress its at.

Anyhow, switched up the green parts for something a little more.. relevant.

Still have to add the second tier of pieces.

What I'm trying to replicate here

You probably need to share a bit more about what your end goals are.
(edit: didn't see the link, but now that I saw it my comment thankfully stands)

You've replicated the symbol pretty well, you could extrude the antennas a bit more, as they're rather stumpy in your version. more like you just need a bit harder edges on the antennas, I managed to forget after closing the window that there are two tiers to this symbol.

As for now, I feel like the gaps of the yellow form and the arms clip a bit too close, also the black on yellow on a dark background makes her body hard to see. It's still visible, just not... pleasant to look at. You could push the yellow back (perhaps only on the symbol?) and giving her more lower body to cover the bottom part of the ring.

Also the shapes under the chest aren't super useful, I'd rather see it used for actual detail (like the green stripes on the red part of the costume)

Finished up the symbol and decided not to be lazy did the rest of the body.

The antennas of light weren't working out so I decided to just throw away the side ones and extended the bottom one.

I'm not sure what you mean by the arms clipping too close but I made her right arm more solid.

Changed some colors so that she's a little more visible and less of an eye strain.

I'm also not entirely sure what I want to do with the background.

Well, I meant that they are pretty close to the gaps on the pattern -> might make the arms harder to read.
I still think the symbol should fade in the background a bit more, but this is looking better.
