I can only remember my first piece was actually the activity of creating parodies on someones avatar. (I can't remember who.. He used to draw 2D beat 'em up characters with big heads..)
Can't show it though, I lost it ever since I jumped from providers. I'll try to look for it though.

Back when I was a Mugen-enthusiast, I did some Dragon Ball Z edits over KOF characters, but I can't quite remember what was the base.

There are some older ones, like a character I created and Spike Spiegel, but they are long time lost.

Lol, well. I just started today really. The only othe thing that could count is a game I wrote in which the graphics were just recolours of the pokemon sapphire graphics. Anyway, here's what I did today as I felt like ditching the kid who had been doing art for me up until now. (Sorry (whatever you decide to call yourself once you register here))

I wish I could show my first, but it's on an old 286 down the hall. It uses a special keyboard plug, so I can't access it. I can't show my first pixelation entry either, cause my host is down....

I drew a couple of pics in Dpaint on my A500 when I was still rather young, but of course that's not really pixeling (~1995)

Then I did this on my A1200, still not quite classical pixel gfx ... (2002)

So this has to be the first one then, made in 2002

Wow I feel old. I remember almost all of the pieces in this thread, and I remember most of the people who have posted in this thread joining :-P Of course, I've been a lurker the whole time, so whatever. I guess my first piece of pixel art was this for the tesselation challenge:

I remember being massively impressed by Morganne's pegasus tesselation for this challenge. Unfortunately, due to lack of practice, I haven't improved very much at pixel art since then. I can analyze and critique decently after being around it for three years, but my skills at creating it leave something to be desired. Ah, well.

I was going through some old floppies when I found this little piece. It was created in 1995 I belive, with a DOS-program called NeoPaint. Definitely my first pixel work.

Anyways, this is the first thing I believe I did, and the first thing I remember posting on pixelation. Pretty sad that I remember half the stuff posted here when I was on pixelation, and how they've come so far and I've... well I still suck.

Ah, the good ol' days. Back then, I didn't feel like an ass for using 32 colors on a single sprite's head.

I'll see if I have any old (functioning) floppies lying around containing old art, though I doubt that I do. I'll blame my tendancy to move annually.

The first stuff I ever did was little digimon-like characters -- 1 bit.

I remember the first thing I posted to Pixelation (like, a year or two later, August 2002) was a little animated woman with a shotgun of some kind for a sidescroller project I made.

The oldest thing I still have lying around is this guy, from February 2003. First real dithering and AA I ever did.

It was followed in about a month by this, which sorta sparked an art style I've been toying with in some form or other from then on: (only now, I'm using conte crayons and charcoals, which is why you don't see much pixel from me anymore

)

And yes, that fad was mine. I did the lineart for it. I remember, since it was one of my chibis and a lot of people got mad at me for screwing up the chest. But by the time I'd have gone back and fixed it, 40 people had already cloned the little sucker, so I didn't bother.

Well not my first piece of pixel art, those are too horrible to show, but I do consider this to be my first true piece of pixel art, as it was the first picture that I had methodically done after reading tsugumo's tutorials, and the first pic posted on Pixelation, and lead me down a whacky road of way too cutesy sprites.

EDIT: Looking at this again I think I wanna use that demon leg as a base for an enemy on the thing I'm working on yeeaars later. Talk about coming full circle.

I remember the first pieces of Pixelation itself. I believe the first time I registered was when that huge piece around the frame of the Amélie Poulain movie was created. But that was after I was already going to Pixelation for a long while.

A lot of the moderators have been going to Pixelation from it's very start actually
