Need help on highlight placement

This is a very rough sketch, but before I proceed, I want to block out the highlights for the piece. Problem is, I have no idea where to begin. Any suggestions?

here's something to give you an idea

but whatever you do dont just take my edit and keep going with it, you have to do it yourself to improve
