Nice stuff.
I liked Pypebro's edit how the platform was a stand-out colour, good choice of colour too.
Good for reducing visual boredom and great for reducing player frustration to be able to see all the platforms without looking directly at them.
still playing around eventually I will make things more like this:

(its an edit of the last version)
But I think that using those colors (cyan) will break my new colors, especially the background, that I like.
So I don't think I like that solution.
But I will try to work on that Issue anyways, maybe add a layer of green to make the light blue "popp" some more...
But here is pypebross colors integrated with the new mockup, you can judge for yourself...
I prefer mine, but I'm open to your opinions...

TLDR: whats best first or second?

Not that it had to be cyan or anything but against the blue background, the colour separation was good while still blended aesthetically.

I dunno what you got planned but I'm not feeling the brown background as sci-fi.
It would be nice to mix up the colours all around the place anyway instead of having all blue platforms.
Especially blue against sky.
Maybe you can throw in some techy parts that are made of other colours into the blue stuff.

I mucked around with this for a while since I never really done this kind of stuff.
Just thought I'd change up the colour a bit, staying desaturated to blend in.

Its a bit shit but maybe you'll get something out of it.
First I tried green green but your guy is green

I like a lot this last style : clean with just some details ! (and highlight)

I probably make my own tiles with your inspiration  :-[

What's the orange part ?
Maybe the horizontal part lack of shadow like this
