Something severily wrong with your compression settings, or alternately, these are downsampled from something more than 256 colors.

Ouch. Yeah, that doesn't work too well... Paint is HORRIBLE at saving anything but bmp. For jpg it automatically gives you max compression, and for gif it converts all colors to fit some strange win3.1-ish standard pallette. Try saving in some other program if you still have a bmp lying around.

 I forgot to set my gif configurations to solid compression. Update. It's a thing that shouldn't be hard to crit. I can crit a pixel image that's converted into jpeg.
