One thing that stands out to me is the way you shaded his eyes. Maybe it was intended as some form of anti-aliasing, but it reads as shading, anyway.

Putting the shadow on the bottom of the eyes - assuming light from above - implies that the eyeballs are bulging out of their sockets. It would make more sense to put the shade along the upper edge of the eye, to imply a shadow being cast by the eyelid onto the eye. It's much less noticeable in Seiseki's edit where there is much heavier AA all over, but in your original pic it does look a bit weird to me.

Yeah, it looks a bit like piano keys, now that you mentioned it.

I noticed the eyes were actually bigger outwards and smaller inwards. Which I tried to show with the shading, seems like I missed a bit on the eye to the right.

Oh I'm sure.

I've worked on this for about an hour tonight.

-Changed the horns
-Added a couple of things to the hat
-Added shadow in the neck (thanks Seiseki)
-Made the forehead a bit bigger (thanks Seiseki)
-Changed the shading on the eyes (thanks jigsaw)
-Added frames to make the animation smoother
-Changed the color of the shirt

Might be other things but I can't recall just now:

I just find the animation weird

What is he doing with his tongue? Is he pulling it out then back in? Or is he tilting it up and down?
Either way, there's a big "cut" in the animation (unless it wasn't meant to loop?)

The shadow that the tongue seems to project is too big, since the tongue is pretty close to the face

And sticking out your tongue while every other inch of your face is frozen seems unnatural. Maybe open the mouth a bit simultaneously
(Personally I think you shouldn't animate the tongue anyways, just the blinking if you feel like it)

Yeah, it wasn't meant to be a loop  ;D.

I agree about the shadow, I will fix it later  :y:.

I'm actually doing this animation to learn how the face ''changes'' depending on the perspective you have of it so I've decided to go ahead and open the mouth (you're right about how static the face looked before):

V. 7 Very, very WIP

V. 8 Still WIP

I'm having trouble figuring out how the ears would move since only the upper jaw is moving. I don't have any references so this is difficult for me. :o I know the blue hat is going to follow the eyebrows down his face along with the goggles which will change shape as the perspective changes (which I will need to imagine  :-X).

I don't really when exactly I should change the perspective of the nose, as in in which frame. Same thing with the eyes, not sure in which frame I should start to give them a rounder shape.

If the upper jaw is moving, that means the entire head tilts back. That also means the helmet, and a changing perspective on the face itself. It's likely easier to open the lower jaw (since it's only hinged on the head and not the entire neck) if you want the tongue-showing thing.

Here's the new version then with comparison:

Good progress. Got some small crits:

The back of the hat should also move down, also the horns.
What happens with the nose as he tilts back is somewhat inconsistent.
And I would suggest to move the jaw down as well a bit as he opens his mouth.

Keep at it :)
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Hi ptoing,

I've moved the back of the hat a bit.

I've moved the horns too.

As for the nose, I've tried something else but it still looks off to me. I don't know how to solve that problem.

I will try moving the jaw too. I'd like to get the nose right first though, as it bothers me a lot at the moment  :yell:.
