Hi!

We are a small non-commercial game developing team that designs mobile games for Android and iPhone platform, and are currently looking for a 2D Artist to complement our team in our current project, a little pass-time pizza cooking game called "PizzaParty" for Android and iPhone.

PizzaParty is a fun, fast-paced game in which you take on the role of a pizza chef at an Italian restaurant and have to speedily prepare pizzas. Under the pressure to deliver in time, you still strive to create the most rich and beautiful pizza the customer - or you - could ever imagine. Will you be able to find the perfect strategy to get the highest tip from your satisfied customers?

Tasks Description:
  • Avatar Design: Design of 2D avatar characters (comic style) with interchangeable facial features such as a variety of eyes and beards, accessoires such as hats or sunglasses, clothes etc.
  • Icon Design: Icons for Facebook achievements
  • User Interface Design: Create a nice looking user interface for avatar customization where the user can "dress up" the avatar

Our team currently consists of two software developers, one artist and one musician in the late 20s to early 30s, each with a professional background in their respective field. Since our artist is taking an educational break we are looking for a skilled addition to our team, someone with a light spirit who shares our passion for creating games and would be interested in completing this title with us.

The game is currently about 90% complete and has already passed a closed beta stage, so it will definitely be released to the public in the forseeable future - and you wouldn't waste your time on some huge dream project that never sees the light of day. At the current stage, we just wish to to add some new features (such as a customizable avatar and achievements) before the final release and thus require a bunch of new fun graphics as outlined above. We expect 2-3 months of remaining development time to finish up these new features, so there's still plenty of chance to bring in your talent,  and also the prospect to continue working together on potential future projects!

Since we develop this game as a hobby, we have no specific plans for monetization and thus can make no promises regarding financial compensation.  Should the project however yield any profits, such as ad revenues, they will be divided among all contributors, including you.

If you're interested, please feel free to send a link to your portfolio to computerhead[at]googlegroups[dot]com, or just get in touch with us if you have any comments or questions. You can visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/PizzaPartyCommunity. Also, you can take a look at screen shots and art work here:

One problem I see with this is that the art doesn't necessarily appear to be pixel art.
I'm no expert but as far as I know you have to put requests to do with pixel art here.  ???
I can't be bothered to make a signature. Seriously, who has time to write these things? I have stuff to do, games to make, and you expect me to write a big, long signature?  I'm not your slave. You can't tell me what to do, so no, I WON'T write a signature.

Oh, wait...

I'll just say that the scribbles inside the hair don't convey texture effectively, and instead make it look much less professional :blind:

So I would redo the lines so they go with the flow of the hair, or just do without them entirely.

Hi Letmethink!

Actually, I did quickly read the rules at http://www.wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=571.0 before posting to this forum. Still, I must have overlooked the part where it says the art had to be pixel related. I'm terribly sorry if you feel the ad is out of place. It was not my intention to offend anybody.

BR,
Marcus

Yeah, I had a quick look and I saw this:

Quote
Employment/Main - This identifies that the poster of the thread is offering payment for services related to pixel art, or game development involving pixel art.

However, it does not specify that it has to be pixel art in the unpaid section so I am not entirely sure.

The job forums are not restricted to pixel art. This is a board of artists, after all. The forum's description is literally "Seeking artists/coders for projects? Post here!", so it's not even restricted to only artists. No problems here.

Hello Crow,

thank you very much for taking the time to clarify this. I'm glad to know the ad is in accordance with the forum rules. So now that that's been settled, I hope we get lucky and find a suitable artist for our little project here. Anyone interested??? ^^

Cheers,
Marcus

Hi all,

Since I also did receive a request to add some more details on the required art items, here are a few more examples of the kind of avatar items that we are looking for (approx. 50 items desirable):
  • Eyes: angry, small, closed...
  • Beards: goatee, chin curtain, mutton chops...
  • Hats: night cap, baseball cap, space helmet...
  • Props: sunglasses, headphones, gold chain and watch...
  • Clothes: tailor-made white suit, pirate uniform...

Also, a few examples for achievements that require a nice-looking Facebook icon for sharing with your friends (approx. 50 achievements):
  • Pizza Mastery: Complete X pizzas.
  • Waste Your Time: Spend X hours decorating pizzas.
  • Gotta catch 'em all: Unlock every recipe in the game.
  • Mmmmm, Bacon!: When creating a pizza, reach the ingredient limit just with bacon.
  • The customer is waiting!: Finish creating a pizza 1 second before the time runs out.
  • Where No Man Has Gone Before: Reach the final difficulty level of the game.
If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Marcus

Hello YellowLime,

thanks a lot for your feedback. We're always open to constructive criticism and will definitely consider your professional input once we've found our new artist.
