A bin

on: July 03, 2006, 03:04:02 pm
Hello. ;)

A bin, yes. What I was trying to do, was getting a metallic look for it.
And I'd also like to hear your comments about the smoke coming out of it. Should I dither it more or just leave it like that?

Looks better, but I might recommend making the edges of the smoke, especially higher up there, blended towards darker shades. I'd also say give it more of cloud-like shape, "billowing" or whatnot. At the moment the smoke still just looks a little too flat. A background around the trash fire might be nice too in order to add the variety and color that a trash can will inevitably lack. Maybe, a subtle red reflection on the metal will improve the color variation as well as give the impression of intense heat and fire.

Smoke generally doesnt blend from dark to light, that just seems like a giant gradient coming out of the bin.  Smoke has form, with dark and light patches.  I made a quick edit to show an idea for the smoke:

Feron, that still doesn't look right. You made it look like a solid object is connected to the trash can.
And I am finally seeing that you were the one worth eating.

I admit the smoke doesn't look like smoke very much, so I'm going to work on that.

Thanks for the comments everyone, a new version of this will come tomorrow, if I have time. :)
