First drawing of spiderman in like.... 10 years! I love that little guy...

Old:
http://h1.ripway.com/tremulant/spidey.PNG

New:

Anyway, I have no idea how to go about the background. Thinking of a cliché rooftop scene, but I don't want to detract from the characters, or add too many more colours... and, as always, general C&C is desired. So, tear me apart!

Update:

I got bored at work, and frustrated trying to knock out a background. Then came up with this. The anatomy is probably an abomination, but hey...

Oh, and apologies if the contrast is effed. The monitors here aren't calibrated, and I don't have the access needed to change 'em. :P

I think Venom's arms are extremely too long for his legs. But it might be a style thing. Go with the rooftop background, full effect, nighttime maybe (you'd have to reverse the raindrops) and you won't need more than one more ramp.

I think venoms face and tongue need work. I remember his tongue being more squigly and he also has a bunch of sharp teeth..
As far as composition, I think spideys right arm(the one pointing down), could be repositioned so that it is more outward like he's going to attack venom, and not just fly into him. Maybe venom's back leg could be repositioned so that it isn't overlayed by the front one, it make him look like he is just standing still at the moment with no action.
overall though, it looks cool, can't wait for a background.

i did this edit pretty quick, but here's what i changed

-The leg positioning, he looked asthough he was going to trip up - make the legs look more springy, like he's ready to attack
-The joint from the leg to the ass, smoothed it out a bit
-The tounge, venom had that big long slimey tounge in the comics - make it look more like that
-Teeth
-Eye

apart from those small crits, i love it to bits ( '-')b

Nah - That eye edit doesn't seem right. See-

The tounge, looks better, aswell as anatomy.  ;)

As for the original image Trem, I love it - Looks great so far... I would yes, suggest sort of a roof top like background, and yes, keep it simple. Truely fantastic work.

I really like this piece overall. Spiderman seems perfect. As for Venom, I think you make the jaw and teeth more exaggerated.

As in this picture

Good work so far. Hmm I would love to see Carnage as well.  :D

I love the colors and love the shapes. Good work so far. I can see that the poses need work like told above, but overall, I like where it's going!

Good job!

Tremulant you are the most sparking and energized pixel artist I've seen around!
you always choose solid subjects and add your awesome coloring touches around!

as for this piece I would recommend you adding a background because the rain effect doesn't go really go fun without a background!
Take care!  :)

Updated with a face-lift for venom.

Helm: The arms do seems too long, and it wasn't, honestly, a stylistic thing (more of a careless-with-the-anatomy thing) but... I think it looks alright, so I may or may not change it. Actually, given the crits so far, I'll probably be changing the positioning of the straight arm at least, so I'll screw with it then. Rooftop is in as a background, but I'll talk more about that in a sec...

AH-W: Face was carelessness again on my part ;D I've fixed it, though, I hope. As for the positioning, I'll be playing with that, cause the majority of people seems to think it looks a bit flat/motionless/static atm.

8bitty: I think I addressed most of you points, minus the leg, which, again, I'll be moving.

Skull: Used your pic as co-reference with .ImygE's when reworking the face. Thanks, 'cause I had a hard time finding good ref pics (what the hell? How is it hard to find pics of Venom... again, I have failed! :P)

.ImygE: Thanks for the pic. Co-reffed with skulls for face, as I mentioned. I might do a carnage pic later, 'cause this has reminded me that super heroes/villains are fun to draw ;D

Lick: Haha, see? Everyone's on the poses ;)

Silver: Thanks, Silver. I will definitely add a background, most likely (like, 90% likely) a rooftop... which brings me to my next request/point...

The background... yeah. I'm having a hard time finding suitable reference pics (just googling images, 'cause that's the best I've got :P). Coming from a small town and having had few occasions to actually visit skyscraper-esque rooftops, I have only a very vague idea of where I'm headed. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Even better then an actual rooftop pic, imo, would be like, a pic of a rooftop drawn from the actual spidey comic (for that 'authentic' feel :P) but anything that might help is more than welcome and appreciated.

Thanks for the crits guys! I'll be working the poses now, see what I can do. Updates soon.
