Thick outlines + Flareon

on: January 30, 2013, 02:11:10 pm

Progress:

So, wanted to try the thick lines style. Anything to get more practice, right? Also, as usual, trying to be as conservative on the palette as possible. There is some slight hueshifting to red, but not too extreme I suppose.
Edit: Once again, I keep getting distracted and forgetting to fix things up. Unified the antialias-color on the mane.

I absolutely love low color stuff with thick/varying width outlines. The biggest problem I see with it is the general jagginess. Adding some sort of background and then anti-aliasing to the outlines could do much good to this piece. Check Panda's dump for reference. Also, in terms of colors, the piece seems a bit dull at the moment. Some more variation, possibly?

Oh dear me, that pandadump is glorious. :o!
I may have bit more than I can chew by adding an actual background, foregoing the flat color solution.

Added background, intensified contrast in flareon, antialiased to the background and threw some grass on top of flareon's feet for good measure.
Im worried the style clashes, but I am actually pretty blind to it myself so.
