Nutella isn't that dark. It's obviously Vegemite. Or alternatively ganache.

And I'm guessing sliced lychee.

Almost there! It's actually a crêpe cake.
Stacked crêpes, chocolate ganache, and caramelized pears... Then cut in square and covered in ganache.
It's not a french thing (well, crêpes themselves are, but used in a cake? not really), I just followed my instinct or something. My wife made a cake challenge about a year ago and I wanted to do something original, so I came up with that. 

Oh, and the white blob is actually a small sliced pear! and also strawberries for decoration.

Waited 4 months for this ED-209 to get released and shipped but now he's here I love him completely.  And cos I was an early pre-orderer (probably not a word) I got it much cheaper than the later retail prices.  Yay!     Hm, looking at previous photos in this thread I notice I have just broken a streak of food-related photos.   Don't eat my Eddy.
