Photostudy

on: November 25, 2012, 12:40:26 pm
I made the last days a photostudy. The purpose was to exercise the basics on a simple object and sharpening the own eye without tracing. I also exercised without a cast shadow. Maybe I'll set the level higher with the next study.
I learned quite a lot from doing it and I am sure I would do even a better job now. I am looking for some general pointers or just the things you see, because I heavily think I got blind from working on it.
Regarding to pixel art techniques I am looking for some input of my AA and Dither techniqe.

The reference:

The pixel art study:

has 23 colors
"Because the beauty of the human body is that it hasn't a single muscle which doesn't serve its purpose; that there's not a line wasted; that every detail of it fits one idea, the idea of a man and the life of a man."

Impressive!
Imho, you'd benefit from using the spotted-pattern of the apple to render mixed tints rather than using conventional dithering.
