Applejack [WIP]

Pretty rough in places, just wanted to get it all together.
Especially the hair and the legs are a bit of a mess.

First time making pixel art on this scale too.

Yay, you finally cleaned up that sketch and made something rather pretty of it 

Aside from stuff that you admitted to keeping rough so far, I'd say her midsection is rather bulky; non-stylized MLP anatomy has the body being at least one head circle long but something like 2/3 the head circle thick; yours is slightly too thick, I think.  Legs definitely could benefit from being slightly longer.  Back leg has a weird quirk about it that I guess I'd need an actual edit to show (I can try for one in the morning) face is slightly too wide near the eye furthest from us but I can also show that in an edit.

Awesome stuff overall, can't wait to see what becomes of it, and of course, ponies

Beyond the general WIP roughness, it's coming along rather well. I recommend doing some more referencing of Applejack in 3/4 view.



Her head may be at a slightly different tilt than the pics I've looked up, but her eyes are too close together. Either less of her right (rear) eye should be visible or her left eye should be moved farther away.

That's a great resource!
I'm already building up a checklist in my head for things I need to correct.
Bissles reference also made me realize that the ear is kinda weird. Also maybe the hair should be further back, she does seem to have a lot of forehead.
And yes, I think I'll move the right eye(her left eye) more to the right

I sorta like the chubbiness though, but I might make her legs a bit longer
Also tail looks extremely odd when compared to the reference.

Maybe they have by now... last time I went through that list, I don't remember seeing that item.

nothing is sacred, moar testing and some edits while I was at it, figured I'd share, one thing I noticed is that less colours in the shading makes it look far more toon which might be a desirable quality, the hat looked mostly fine remapped but redid it grey for contrast and to test those colours in combination, that's one malformed apple you have going too, and the butt tat thingies read more like cherries

I really what you did to the shading on the legs and the palette, but I've decided to stay close the the shows color.

I should have finished the first sketch before coloring and shading, making sure the anatomy worked.
Right now it feels like I might as well draw it from scratch, although I'm quite satisfied with the eyes and hat.

So, I'm just gonna sketch ontop of this before i continue with the shading.
I played around with the proportions, eyes further apart looks a lot better.
Having a bit of trouble staying motivated, but here's some progress at least.



Maybe it needs more neck.
And I'm not a huge fan of the outline..
Also, carrot on a stick idea, but with an apple! Gotta remember that for later.
