another thing that i thought i'd mention - your lack of AA intrigues me.  You make it work so well - good stuff to learn from.

I'd pull a Dali on the water and only make the surface blueish, while the "walls" became fully transparent (though darker) so that we could see better what we fishGET.

I've never played a fishing game before, so I can't really imagine the playing mechanics...

 This is lookin awesome. I had the same idea for a fishing kind of game, but it's in side view. I've only made sprites for it.

I really like the looks of it, but rather than a fishing game, for me it looks more like part of those cute life simulators like animal crossing or the like.
Most of the stuff has been point out, but maybe the fishing area could be bigger, since the rocks are occupying about half of the water.
Other than that really nice.
