Elemental Golem [WIP] C+C

on: June 18, 2012, 05:02:21 am
Anyways this is the elemental golem thing I've started,  was just hoping I could get some comments on anything you guys think I should fix throughout the stages of creating this golem. The current colors in it atm are placeholders, they won't be the colors I'm using.

Here's the reference

Nice one. I love golems!
If i made an elemental golem i'd also makes his eyes burn to give it a strong contrast with the ice surrounding it.

I've been looking at it and..may the force be with you on this one!!!
You have a lot going on in this piece. I don't have the skill to help on light sources.

Question. Is metal/iron/steel also an element for this guy?
If not, you could try out how it looks if you strip away the shoulder pads and replace them by stone armour.
Kinda the same as you did with his underpants.

You're focusing too much on the texturing etc. before you've figured out all the forms. Your colours are all quite midtone-ish, except for the fire colours which are too saturated. So yeah, I'd suggest blocking out the entire thing like you've done already with the rocky bits.
