[WIP] Self-Portrait v2.0

Sketch:
Just to give you an idea of where it's headed, I'm planning to use mostly flat, "cel" shading but with a strong sense of volume.
As always, critique is much appreciated.

I think this is fucking cool as hell!
Edit: I really love the broken lines that add a rough and scratchy look to it all!

Wow, thanks!
The compliment is super-deluxe appreciated, but I should warn you, you might get in trouble with the admins for posting without criticism. (Editing your post with specific feedback should put you in the clear.)
I see you're pretty new here - welcome to the forums! ^^

Thanks. I've been lurking for a while, and wish I was good at my pixel work so I can post up some stuff like this one ^

very nice. Imho, the black lines should be gone altogether, esp. the vertical one in the nose, where much more anti-aliasing would be expected, and the one below the eye.

Thanks! A lot of the black lines are just guides left over from the original sketch.
Although, I would like to keep a few dark lines (not pure black) to accentuate details, sort of like the art style in Borderlands:

EDIT: The style has sort of shifted away from that idea, as you can see. ^^;

Update:
The likeness is much, much better, and consequentially it got a lot more realistic.

you should clean up some of the lines a bit more still a tad rough clean it up and make it a bit smoother also that light brown you need to add a darker tone below it so it can blend with the hair a bit more because it doesnt really blend well (reason why i took it out below)and on the shirt you can add an lighter blue on it to get the more realistic feel to your piece

The neck and shoulders give the impression that they're too small for your head. The bottom of the nose's angle is ever so slightly off from the eyes and makes the face feel pieced together from separate parts rather than feeling like a continuous organic structure. The original black and white sketch didn't have this problem, the nose and mouth were comfortably aligned with the eyes. Coming along nicely otherwise!
Got any sort of photo ref for critique's sake?
